Assignment 4_04
Fashion is a social force that is estimated and extremely effective. It can be defined what tends to be liked or preferred majority of people within a given region or among people in a group. Generally, fashion can be demonstrated in many fields. It can be outfits, equipment, machine, trends and even the way of speaking. It may be difficult to determine what commodities are fashionable because people have got different preferences for different commodities. Accordingly, something fashionable is seen as anything universally appreciated by many. Fashion can be found anywhere and everywhere and because of the many people involved on it. For some, fashion may just be a career, but when looking at people in Fashion Industry from a sociological point of view-it is obvious that for many, fashion is life.
Fashion indicates the personality of a person and people can use fashion to categorize people in to different groups. In the modern world, people dress to be identified with a certain group of people. Fashion is used as a tool for social conformity. The concept of fashion was created by the upper class as a way to distinguish themselves from the lower classes (Finkelstein). After the upper class had done just that, their fashions began to be imitated by their "social inferiors" (Finkelstein). Fashion was and still is a matter of popularity and taste and is constantly changing and evolving. From a sociological point of view, fashion is about the "collective ways of making connections with others and at the same time marking differences" (Kaiser).
Fashion has direct impact in our life from our society or from the group of people where we are living. It's a part of what gives the first impression. So, it is important for everyone. People always expect you to look "perfect" but its impossible , fashion impacts the way you look but it also impacts how you feel, if you don't have a good sense of fashion you might feel down a lot or insecure where as someone who has a good knowledge of fashion. There are two types of effects of fashion, positive and negative effect. Positive effects like, when a person try to live in a different styles, it helps to reduce stress and gives satisfy. Of course, nobody wants to use the same things for a long time. Every thing has their specific value for a certain time. Fashion is only accepted if there is any change or any different. There is always more negative points than the positive points of any things, person or place. Because people accept negative points more easily and very fast. Such as, a rich person can afford expensive, new and different types of fashion which comes in the market but a poor person cannot afford any type of fashion. It brings inequality in the society and may cause crime.
Fashion allows people to express themselves in an individual way. It provides diversity in society which can only be a healthy thing. It shows that people have freedom and therefore allows them to relax and feel comfortable for who they are. It also shows a persons creativity. Fashion shows what type of person someone is and without that kids are the same as everyone else. They don't have something that shows what they are like and if a kid is the same as everyone else, it can dull their life by about 69%. The kids don't feel unique anymore and that is not good. Feeling special is one of the most important part in a kids life. Everything has a two sides, such as we can not clap with a single hand. As same as, fashion has also two sides in society. It is harmful and it is not harmful. It depends on each mind.
At last, fashion is like a revolving earth which never have any stops. It always rotates in a circle. That's why, its impact is different by peoples and places. It has a positive impact on a positive mind of a person and negative impact on a negative mind of a person. In my opinion, fashion should be followed by everyone by their standard of living. It can makes understanding between people, makes happy life and mostly different than others. Overall, it makes for happier individuals which results in a more prosperous society.
